Renee,

The School of Continuing Education at New York University has a certification
program in Appraisal of Fine and Decorative Arts. I believe ten courses are
required (including two on ethics and the IRS), and you can specialize in
furniture, silver, textiles, etc. Once you complete the courses, you are
credited by the American Association of Appraisers with two years of work
experience. I don't know whether you are considered a member or not. For
more info, call (212) 998-7130. Good luck!

Beth Petriello
