T.S. Davies' point about people going to museums with a "been there, done that"
mentality is very well taken.  Some museum visitors are like birdwatchers,
wanting something on their "life list."
 
Another thought.  A moving walkway is a reasonably controlled way of moving a
lot of people through an exhibit.  In principle, it's bothersome.  In practice,
I find it less annoying than enormously crowded blockbuster exhibits, where
there is often no real opportunity to experience the art, artifacts or whatever
is on display because of the sheer pressure of the crowds.  Bottom line may
be that an optimum museum experience requires a reasonably degree of privacy.
