Hi, Kathy

I've been to both Pompeii and the Naples museum. . . but this was in Dec.
1988. Someone else may be able to give you more recent info. But . . .

At the time I was traveling on my own and did a self-guided tour of Pompeii
and a self-guided tour of the Naples museum (unless you count the guard who
followed me around and wanted to take me on a private tour of Mt.
Vesuvius--not a cultural experience I took him up on! Although I did take a
bus trip up Vesuvius later).

Anyway, if it were me, I'd take the guided tour of Pompeii. The Naples
museum is nice but I think I would have gotten more out of Pompeii if I'd
had a guided tour. Pompeii is really an amazing and unique place. The Naples
museum, while it has interesting collections, doesn't really compare (in my
opinion).

Also, see if you can get to Herculaneum as well . . .

Have a great trip!
