FULL-TIME POSITION AVAILABLE
Marketing Manager

The mission of The Tech Museum of Innovation is to serve as an educational
resource that engages people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and
experiencing technologies affecting their lives, and to inspire young
people to become innovators in developing technologies of the future.

The Marketing Manager is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the
Director of Marketing and Public Affairs.  The Marketing Manager is
responsible for the day-to-day management of the museum's marketing
activities and supports the Director in developing and implementing the
department's long-range marketing direction and priorities.  The job
portfolio will include the primary responsibility for building the travel
and tourism market, government and community relations, and on-going
advertising and promotion for the museum.

Responsibilities:
* Develop, recommend, and implement an annual marketing plan that will
include budgets; tactical plans; advertising, promotional and sales
activities; and attendance and revenue targets. 
* Identify and develop lead marketing programs and initiatives to support
marketing attendance and revenue objectives; and, work with departmental
staff to cultivate museum support to implement such programs.
* Implement and oversee marketing plan for the IMAX® Dome Theater and the
exhibit galleries to meet annual attendance and revenue goals.
* Manage advertising, design and other marketing agency services.
* Recruit, supervise and evaluate Marketing staff as directed by the
Director of Marketing and Public Affairs.
* Develop solutions to a wide range of complex marketing and community
relations challenges.
* Develop the museum's external relations program.  Cultivate and maintain
relationships with community, legislative, business, tourism trade and
regional communities.
* Develop and coordinate strategic travel and tourism marketing planning,
and manage resource and staff allocation and tactical work plans in support
of those plans.
* Work with the Director of Marketing and Public Affairs and the President
& CEO to establish the museum's Community Associates Board and staff that
committee.
* In cooperation with Programs, Exhibits, Development and Education staff,
develop and support implementation of programs and exhibits which build
audience and revenue; bring forward program ideas which meet visitor
expectations and interests; create and execute outreach projects to engage
targeted  local and regional audience segments; and build increased
community awareness and support.
* Oversee, coordinate, and analyze audience and other research and
marketing data. Supply management with critical information affecting
program selection, pricing and operations.
        
Requirements:
* 5-8 years of marketing management experience in an institutional
environment, preferably in a non-profit organization.
* Proven ability to plan, develop and implement successfully a marketing
plan with limited budget and staff.
* Proven ability to work effectively with a team working on common goals
and to manage projects to completion with limited staff support.
* College degree is required.  Museum experience is preferred.
* An understanding of demographics, comfort with numbers and ability to
analyze marketing research data to correlate to attendance and revenue
forecasting and budgeting.
* Must be a self-starter, flexible, entrepreneurial, creative,
cost-conscious, and have a high degree of energy and dedication, with a
positive "can do" attitude.
* Knowledge of the marketplace, marketing dynamics, and audience
development; with a sensitivity to politics and business relationships.
* A strategic thinker, a negotiator and organizer with proven experience in
developing solutions to a wide range of challenging marketing problems
requiring innovative solutions.
