Cheryl,

We use local office supply companies and material handling companies for our
steel shelving. When asking for bids, we also ask them to bid the price of
installation. We have found that these companies are usually the ones who
know the most about the products and can therefore give you the most
information. Also, if you have any problems with the shelving, you have
someone local to contact. I would advise against shelving with particle
board (as you stated), but I would also advise against Melamine shelves
also. Our division has had steel shelving in our library/archive area and
collection storage area for several years now, and we have been quite happy
with it. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me
off-list.
