Welcome to this edition of DINOSAURNEWS - the international Dinosaur Webzine
with bite!

This Week's Headlines: (For the FULL STORY visit the NEWS section of the
webzine at this address: http://www.dinosaurnews.org )

** New bones to pick in Kansas City
Visitors can pick up a "bone phone" to ask Christopher questions, assemble
models of dinosaurs and view fossils under microscopes

** Dinosaur's soft tissue 'is cool stuff'
Some of those tissues - undiscovered until recently - studied at the
molecular level may give new insights into how dinosaurs lived and evolved,
whether they were cold-blooded and how they might be related to modern
animals

** Palaeontologists examining pipeline construction discover bones of
largest dinosaurs
Called an open trench inspection, their job was to look for arrowheads,
bones or other historical artefacts that would - under the Historical
Preservation Act - require Kinder Morgan to remove them before finishing its
section of the Rockies Express Pipeline

** Not Dinos But: 'Monster' fossil find in Arctic
Norwegian scientists have discovered a "treasure trove" of fossils belonging
to giant sea reptiles that roamed the seas at the time of the dinosaurs.
Plus video - BBC4 Special Report

** Dinosaurs roam to new homes
The 25 dinosaur sculptures created for SciTech Hands-On Museum's "Dinosaurs
on Parade-Roam Aurora" project were auctioned Saturday to bidders planning
to donate them for continued entertainment and education for local families

** Academy of Natural Sciences shows off its "precious gems"
The towering Giganotosaurus standing on the front desk of Philadelphia's
Academy of Natural Sciences is as big as a SEPTA bus

** Growing Legacy
When Marshall Felch stumbled across his first dinosaur bones in 1877, he
could not have known his find eventually would lead to international fame
and scientific advancement

** Last meal was Primitive Crocodile
In one specimen, the Museum scientists found that the carnivorous dinosaur's
last meal was a primitive crocodile, not a dinosaur of any kind, let alone a
Coelophysis; in the second specimen, the new analysis shows that the remains
identified as a last meal actually are located outside the larger animal's
ribcage and are possibly too large to have been eaten whole

** Utah and China dinosaur bones share ancient connection
Even when digging for dinosaurs in the sweltering summer heat of Utah's
badlands, Jim Kirkland's thoughts often drift to China

** Dinosaur author to give away fossils
Dinosaur buffs sifting through the shelves at bookstores and libraries may
unearth several new specimens this fall

** The New Old One
Dinosaur enthusiasts gathered at the George S. Eccles Dinosaur Park to
witness the unveiling of a creature the park manager says is a cross between
a reptile and an ostrich

** Dino hunter believes more bones just waiting to be found
Like a fisherman who just knows there are still fish practically begging to
be caught, Peter Dodson has faith in a vast and undiscovered supply of
dinosaur bones

What our readers say:

I must say first that I subscribe to your E-mail news letters and read them
voraciously for book ideas. The news blurbs are such a wonderful service to
us dino fanciers!
Christine Gentry - author of 'Mesozoic Murder 'and 'Carnosaur Crimes'

Thank you for an interesting, useful site. I recommend it to teachers who
continue to contact me after 6 years of retirement. I also volunteer at the
local science museum and recommend your site to the many children who visit
it.
Marvin Selnes, Sioux Falls, SD

Thank You for the excellent coverage you've given my ongoing research.
Best regards,
Marilyn D. Wegweiser, Ph.D., Affiliate Faculty, Idaho Museum of Natural
