Glen,

Depending on the look you want, we have used two
different methods. For shallow muddy water we have
poured a layer of resin over dirt in a recess to
simulate a pond. In a large wetlands exhibit we
painted one side of a sheet of plexiglas with a
mottled mix of blues, greens and browns. After drying
it was put in with the clear side up (paint down) and
the edges dressed with reeds and dirt. Then a duck
mount was put onto it.
