Being a native New Yorker (Upstate mind you!) I highly recommend taking a
trip (about 6 hours) to the Finger Lakes region and sample some of the
very good New York State Wines (The Red Newt Winery is my favorite).
You'll want to go to Ithaca or Watkins Glen (some wonder B&B's there as
well) and you can also stop down to the Corning Glass Museum in Corning
New York (One of the finest collections of glass anywhere, as well as a
huge replica of the mirror in the Hubble Space Telescope!). Also right
near are the National Soaring Museum (Harris Hill in Elmira) and the
National Warplane Musuem (Big Flats). And last but not least, my hometown
of Horseheads NY you can see the Historical Society. :)
