When I was in sixth grade, we had to memorize all the prepositions- (aboard,
about, above, according to, across...I can still recite them in alphabetical
order) My biggest pet peeve when reading what others have written is that
people finish sentences with prepositions. I am not a good writer, but this
sets my teeth on edge. It bothers me especially when I am reading "learned
scholars"-- As a matter of fact, everyone who ever had Mrs. Pothoff at Ann
Weigel Elementary in Cincinnati says the same thing. Amazing how you retain
certain lessons through the years.
