Hi John,

Of course, being a loyal grad, I must politely chastise you for not
considering Texas Tech. :) Unless of course you did, and rejected it as a
candidate for some reason.

There are many excellent full-degree programs out there, and your list
includes several. I would also generally agree that there are no programs
in the US/North America that dominate the field in all areas. So much
depends on the individual professors and the other resources of the
university and area.

Personally, I would go with GW from your list of candidates. Not because I
know it to be necessarily vastly superior, but because I know a couple
grads and they were well trained. Money from Toronto would be good, but
keep the international standards and expenses in mind. Of all your choices,
Seattle would probably be the cheapest. If you are aware of any museum or
state in which you might like to begin your career, it would behoove you to
choose a program nearby so that you can use the two years you are there to
affiliate yourself. Other than those potential considerations, any of the
four are good calls.

I realize that that may not be terribly helpful in terms of your decision.
Just trying to be supportive. I find it encouraging that you seek the
advice of your future colleagues even before you have made your decision. A
good sign for your future ability to interact with your peers and to make
use of their collective wisdom.

Good luck.

Hello Everyone...

After doing some research on MAs in Museum Studies last winter, I came to
the conclusion that there are no domestic programs that clearly dominate
the field. I applied to four different programs that I thought looked
impressive. I didn't expect to get accepted to all of them, but apparently

I sold myself short. Could anyone give me some advice on where to spend
the next two years studying, and probably several more after that? I'm a
Californian, born and raised, but have no clear favorite on where to go
(and decision time is this month!!!). Here they are:

NYU
GW
U of Toronto (with a generous fellowship)
U of Washington - Seattle

Are there any clear favorites? Thanks for any input you might have. I
trully appreciate it.
