Beverly Historical Society, a small but growing organization with important
library, archival, photograph, and artifact collections related to the
history of Beverly, Mass. and the North Shore, offers an opportunity for an
aspiring collections manager during summer 2001. Primary duties will be to
assess and make recommendations to the director regarding anticipated
cataloguing of collections and to assist researchers. This position could
lead to full-time employment as BHS's first professional archivist/curator
in fall 2001.  Preference given to applicants with an MA or enrolled in a
graduate program in American history, archival management, museum studies,
public history, or related field.  Applicants should have excellent
communication skills, strong organizational abilities, attention to detail,
and an interest in working with the public. Send letter of interest
