Tamara,

I've had the most luck with Henri Gadbois at Real Faux Foods - he casts
in earthenware and hand paints with acrylics; much safer for use with
collections than the plastic food you can get elsewhere. Henri also
does custom orders (he created "hoecakes swimming in butter and honey"
for me when I was at Mount Vernon). http://www.realfauxfoods.com/

For more "ready-made" items, here are all the vendors I've tracked down
through the years. I cannot vouch for all of them as I've only actually
ordered from a few. I have used Iwasaki for things like faux ice and
they will provide MSDS information for your review.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Fake Food Sources

I am looking for recommendations for obtaining fake food items.
Unfortunately, we do not have time right now to "make our own" so I am
looking for some sources that might sell a variety of items, preferably
beyond the apple, orange, grapes, categories.

Thanks in advance!
