Without having a photo of the binder, it sounds like a scrapbook binder. They have them at local craft stores if you're not worried about archival quality. Some of the more expensive ones will say archival quality on them and the cheaper ones won't. The binding part with the metal pieces and the studs sound very similar to the scrapbook binders. Some have two studs and some have more depending on how big it is.

Hope that helps.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Custom or Old-style binder clips

Greetings,

I am hoping someone can help me. We received an older
style binder that we are trying to replicate or find
eqivalents for. I hope my description does it
justice.

Specifically, the book as a whole is roughly 29*19
inches, the front and back were separate pieces. They
were joined by a unique binder that I have not
encountered before. The base was a long slim, flat
pice of metal with 2 studs, hinged to a second or top
piece of metal. Drawings were placed onto the studs
much like a 3-ring binder. The top piece was then
closed. Running through the binder was a shaft that
when closed, was tightened by a key.

With the plethora of office supply websites, searching
the internet has been virtually fruitless. Does
anyone have any idea of a manufacture of something
like this or an equivalent?

Cheers,

Brad Holderman
