The Committee on Audience Research and Evaluation (CARE) would like to
invite submissions for the 2002 CARE Marketplace of Ideas, Current Trends in
Audience Research and Evaluation, to be held on Monday, May 13, from 4:00 to
5:30 PM at the AAM 2002 Annual Meeting in Dallas, Texas. Following is the
call for proposals. Please forward this information to others in your
organization, or in other associations, who may be interested in
participating.

Call for Proposals for the
2002 CARE Marketplace of Ideas
Current Trends in Audience Research and Evaluation

Held at the 2002 AAM Annual Meeting
In the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas, Texas
On Monday, May 13, 2002, from 4:00 until 5:30 PM

Purpose
* To showcase audience research and evaluation work currently being
undertake in and for museums
* To encourage museums of all sizes and types to engage in audience research
and evaluation
* To present information about museum audiences, programs, and exhibitions
so museum professionals might begin the process of looking for
generalizations, trends, and principles that guide efforts to improve
practice

Participants
Museum staff, consultants, museum studies faculty, and students who are
members of CARE and registered for the AAM Annual Meeting.

Presenters
Museum staff, consultants, museum studies faculty, and students who have
done work on audience research and evaluation.  For those presenters who
plan to attend ONLY on Monday (the day of the Marketplace), complimentary
day registration will be available; please indicate on the form if you
desire a pass for Monday.

Presentation
Each presenter will prepare a poster or other form of display, handouts, and
other materials as relevant.  Displays will be on view concurrently during
the one and one-half hour session. Participants will be invited to walk from
display to display, read the posters and other materials, and interact with
the presenters.  Presenters must be knowledgeable about the study and
available throughout the session for discussion.  Under separate cover,
presenters will be sent guidelines for content, format, and delivery of
materials.

Publication
Presenters are encouraged to submit a poster abstract and a 5-8 page paper
describing the evaluation project presented. The abstract and paper will
then be published in "Current Trends 2003: Audience Research and
Evaluation."  Please see attached the guidelines for "Current Trends 2003"
publications.
