Thank you for announcing our new website. This is testing now, and we do
hope to develop it during the next weeks and months. We did only announce
it to a limited number of people, as we are heavily constructing it, and a
lot of things still have to change. So, be patient, and don't shoot at the
pianists...

Nevertheless, although it holds a lot of information on industrial
heritage, the site is not devoted to this subject alone, but it is meant to
built a link between all kinds of *European* heritage initiatives (museums,
local preservation groups, research institutes, restoration companies and
conslutants , specialised architects, restorers, suppliers of materials
and tools, etc. etc.). Please read the introductory text on the website.
The basis of the website will be our web database (for which each
initiative can register for a short (free) entry, or for a more extensive
presentation), the heritage agenda (where everyone can announce
conferences, meetings, exhibitions, etc), and the 'links of the week'.
Other topics and entries will be added later on.
We aim initially to have at least three languages running simultanuously:
English, the local language, and a third European language - at present we
develop the software for English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and
Dutch, but finally the number of languages will be unlimited. We expect to
have all the bugs 'exterminated' in May - but as you all know, pest control
is rather difficult in cyber space :)
You can ask for your registration forms online at http://eur-heritage.com
When you visit the website and have any comments or proposals, if you find
errors in the use of your language, if there is something you like or
dislike, etc. please send us your comment by e-mail

For industrial heritage we actually host the first steps of a website under
construction by the Flemish Industrial Archaeology Society (Vlaamse
Vereniging voor Industriële Archeologie), the overall industrial
archaeology association for the Flemish Region in Belgium. One of there
members did prepare an impressive list of i.a. links: these are edited now,
and they hope to have it on their website mid May.
They are at: http://www.conservare.be/vvia/vviahome.htm (or go to the front
entrance at: http://www.conservare.be)
