Here's at least one Belgian on the list (there might be more, I don't
really know - perhaps I should let our fellow members of our local
museums association know about Museum-L...)

As for the information you are looking for, probably the best source or
contact would be the brand-new (and state-of-the-art) museum in
Ieper/Ypres,
already featured in Time Magazine as one of the world's best war (or is
it : peace ?) museums :

As they are quite new and do not (as far as I know) have a large
collection of objects, there is a small chance that they would be unable
to help you, however they will probably be able to put you in touch with
the right contact.

Smaller local history museums might also be able to help you, but
unfortunately there is no "centralized" way of getting through to them.
If the above museums cannot help you, you might ask them to use their
contacts in our museum associations (VMV for Flanders and AMF (I think)
for the French-speaking part of the country), to publish an appeal in
their newsletter or so ?  There are a lot of private collectors of WW I
(and II) memorabilia, perhaps the museums can you help you to contact
these as well ?
