I wonder if there are other museums you can volunteer with? As an employer,
I like to see diverse experience (if it isn't flitting between jobs before
the voliunteer has paid back the investment in them).

If they do need someone to do this work, and can't recruit anouther
volunteer, they might advertise.  But I do suspect that the work would
either be left undone in toto, or added to someone's job description.
