Hello! Any conservators out there who can help? Or others with
experience in this? My mom is redoing her kitchen and wants to use two
Bennington/Rockingham style earthenware tiebacks that are without their
screws. The openings are undamaged. She would like to use them, and I
want them to be used safely and not break them.

So, how do we safely get a screw in there, get it secured, but not such
that it will break the tieback from screwing it into the window casing?
Pre-drilling the casing will certainly help, and we have had suggestions
of cutting off the end of a drywall screw and securing it in the opening
with silicone of some sort.

I really appreciate any help you can give me!

Sincerely,

Sabrina Henneman
