HISTORIC CHERRY HILL

Collections Management Intern

Historic Cherry Hill, an AAM-accredited historic house museum in upstate New
York, is seeking a graduate-level Collections Management Intern to assist the
Curator during the second year of preparing and moving collections objects
into a new storage and research facility.  The 11-month internship will begin
in February 2001, and includes a $1,500 per month stipend. This position is
contingent upon grant funding.  The Intern will gain experience in packing and
moving diverse object, re-housing the textile collections, tracking object
locations, performing object condition assessments under the guidance of a
conservator, collections database management, environmental monitoring and
volunteer management. Qualifications include current enrollment in or recent
completion of a graduate program focusing on museum studies or history,
education and/or experience in basic museum practices, especially object
handling, collections care, and registration methods, experience with database
programs, good organizational and communication skills and a strong attention
to detail. If an academic internship is desired, academic credit can be
arranged. Submit a cover letter with resume and three references by mail to
