Please call Meadowlark Communications toll free 1-888-728-2180 for their
product list. They deal in American Indian books, videos, and
calendars. They are not on-line yet.

I have their product list and flyers here in front of me. Some
appropriate selections seem to be available. I will quote (with
permission from the owner of the company).

"Powwow by George Ancona follows young Anthony Standing Rock as he
participates in Crow Fair in Montana as a traditional dancer. Excellent
resource for children." Book.

"Wacipi Powwow (video with lesson plan) Excellent resource ....
Examine powwows from both a historical and present day context. In
conjunction with the video, ideas are provided for enrichment activities
to help students connect the events of the past with events of today.
Ask us about Edu-Paks."

While these products focus on powwows, don't discount them on that
account. Powwows are one of the most important and visible aspects of
contemporary Indian culture. There are 37 items listed on the product
list, including Powwow Trading Cards (like baseball cards, only powwow
dancers).

By the way, for those of you who are not familiar with this aspect of
American culture...the term Native American seems to be passe' and the
term American Indian is coming back into use by the people.
