Scott;

Inasmuch as my fool email program didn't give me your exact email address, I
shall have to communicate through the list.

We have a similar library which is quite a bit larger, but still is likely to
appeal chiefly to serious students, would-be authors and the like, as well as
being a research resource used heavily by our own staff.

Unfortunately, we don't have the resources to operate it (a) as a public
library or (b) even on a daily basis. The only solution has been to open it to
outsiders by appointment only. It's not the preferred option but I suppose it's
all we can do at present. We're about to move the library from our public
building to our collections and research facility across town, where more than
98% of our estimated 750,000 artifacts are stored. These range from buttons and
badges to main battle tanks, a miniature submarine and other small naval craft,
a PILOTED V-1 (!!!), etc. (When you have LOTS of buttons and such, it's easy to
have a big collection!). I think the move will be a great help to users as they
will be able to use it Monday through Friday and, as they are also often
interested in examining particular collections or artifacts, having it all in
the same location will be more convenient for them.

I may be in the south west this fall and, if so, would very much like to visit
your museum.
