The Rock County Historical Society in Janesville, Wisconsin, seeks a
creative and motivated leader with experience in museum management to
oversee a growing institution that includes a local history museum,
archives, and a historic house museum known as the Lincoln-Tallman
Restorations.  The house museum is described by the Smithsonian as "one of
America's most impressive examples of an Italian Villa."

Responsibilities of the Executive Director include overseeing day-to-day
operations, the institution's annual budget, financial reporting and
forecasting, as well as managing both human and financial resources.
Immediate priorities will be fund raising including expansion of the annual
fund drive, increasing corporate sponsorships, and preparing for a future
capital fund drive.  Other duties include program development, public
relations, and management of both paid and volunteer staff.

Requirements:  M.A. in museum science, history, or a related field; at
least five years of museum management experience; strong leadership
qualities (vision, initiative, and diplomacy); and strong grant writing and
fund-raising abilities.

Salary:  $32,000 to $40,000, plus benefits.
