What does a good "Service Standards" policy look like, and how long have
they been in effect in a "formalized" way within museums?   As the rest
of you have noted, we certainly do collect "things" for the preservation
of that "subject" or "idea," which makes up the museum, but without the
visitor, who are we going to tell our tale to?  Who would even care
unless we show them the reasons we think our existence is important?
I'd be interested in hearing more about this evolution and this thread.
