I am not sure if this would be too basic for you or if this is what you are
looking for at all, but the Smithsonian Institution Center for Museum
Studies has a Introduction to the Management of Museum Collections workshop
every year. The workshop lasts for five days and is very comprehensive. I
was fortunate in that I was able to attend in 1999 and I found it to be
extremely helpful and insightful. There is a fairly lengthy application
process and it is based on small museums etc., but if you would like more
information on it you can contact the Center for Museum Studies at
http://museumstudies.si.edu/. I hope this is helpful!

Sincerely,
Cecelia Gibson
Assistant Registrar
