Ruth,

If you are on a limited budget, like most museums, I would recommend the
Hewlett-Packard Scanjet 3970. This is a great flatbed scanner for most
applications. I am currently using it to scan images in to my computer for
exhibit and documentation purposes. At 600 dpi, the images that are scanned
are photographic in quality and can easily be reproduced by laser printers.
I would recommend this scanner for temporary exhibits and also for
educational purposes.

These machines can be found at most electronic retail stores (mine came from
Circuit City) and the price is @$100.00. Highly recommended.
