Description:
Shawnee Town 1929, a living history museum which interprets Shawnee town
and farm life in the 1920's is seeking a graduate level studentto work
on-site for a 12 week paid internship. The Shawnee Town 1929
> Museum engages visitors through programs, events, guided tours, exhibits,
hands-on activities and third person interpretation. The Intern will work
on-site at Shawnee Town 1929 with the Museum's Curator of Collections 30
hours per week, Monday - Friday, mid-May through mid-August. The selected
candidate will gain experience and a working knowledge of accessioning,
cataloging, researching and the documentation processes of museum
collections. The duration of this position is Mid May through Mid August
(12 weeks).

 Position Summary
   Accession, catalog, research and document collections
   Clean and treat collection objects
   Assist with exhibit research and installation
   Work with the Vernon Systems Collection Database

Position Requirements
   Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in History,
   Museum Studies, Anthropology or a related field.
   Currently enrolled in a graduate level program at an accredited college
   or university studying History, Museum Studies, Anthropology or a
   related field.
   Excellent written communication skills.
   Must be dependable and reliable.
   Able to work independently with limited supervision.
   Successful completion of a background investigation and post-offer
   employment physical and drug screen.

The ideal intern will be flexible, organized with attention to detail, able
to take initiative, and have the ability to handle multiple projects. Must
be proficient in MS Word and Excel. Knowledge of basic museum collections
management and practices preferred.
