The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science seeks an experienced
individual to serve as head of the Museum Education Dept., which includes an
off-site environmental education center.  The successful candidate will
supervise 10 professional staff and oversee a volunteer corps of 300.  S/he will
be responsible for developing innovative educational programs to meet the
Museum's long-term strategies; organizing, managing, and evaluating these
programs; working with development staff to secure funding; and serve as an
advocate for math/science education in the community.  The candidate should have
excellent communication skills, be well-acquainted with museum education
practice, knowledgeable of program management and budgeting, have a track record
of successful grant writing, and be experienced in working in a multicultural
environment.

Salary Range 24:  $28,845 - $33,710 per year

Minimum Qualifications:  High school graduation or equivalent, plus any
additional education and/or experience in museum or related work, adding up to a
total of eight (8) years.  Additional education or experience should be in one
of the natural science disciplines, such as biology, botany, zoology, geology,
physical geography, or biological geography, or in science education.
Preference will be given to applicants with experience in administration.
