Evolving Standards and their Practical Application

Organised by the Museum Documentation Association

Evolving Standards
This session look in detail at the progress being made in Standards,
with application both in the UK and Abroad. It will examine in detail
the second edition of SPECTRUM, the UK Museum Documentation Standard,
due for publication in Mid 1997, and also look at current work by CIDOC.
The session will also look at exciting new developments in Terminology
in the UK and abroad.

Using Standards in the Real World
The session will look at how museum and related standards are applied in
the real world - with a focus on public access to the information held
by cultural heritage institutions. The session will look at the exciting
progress being made by the Aquarelle and CIMI projects and the ways in
which terminology will enable wider access to information.
