This is a news update from the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums.

We would like to hear from you about your organization's collaborative
initiatives.

Please read on...

Museums Meet the Collaboration Challenge
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Call for Proposals
MAAM 56th ANNUAL MEETING
Newark, New Jersey
October 11-15, 2003
Deadline Extended: February 15, 2003
MAAM encourages you to share your museum's collaborative initiatives
with the at-large museum community in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Museums collaborate-they partner with libraries, obtain support from
businesses, develop programs with schools and work collaboratively with
other nonprofits and government organizations.
What kinds of collaboration has your museum investigated or implemented?
What are some of the challenges, both organizationally and ethically,
that your institution faced?
Proposals do not have to address the meeting theme and MAAM encourages
the entire community-including museum vendors and independent museum
professionals-to submit proposals about issues relevant to the
community.
Keynote Speaker Announced
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Peter Johnston, President, Leader to Leader Institute (formerly the
Drucker Foundation) will deliver one of the keynote addresses at the
upcoming MAAM Annual Meeting in Newark, NJ. Rob Johnston has served the
Institute since 1991, holding positions of increasing responsibility for
management and program, and was appointed President effective March
2001.

The Leader to Leader Institute furthers its mission "to strengthen the
leadership of the social sector" by providing educational opportunities
and resources to leaders.

Continuing the work of the Drucker Foundation since its founding in
1990, the Leader to Leader Institute serves as a broker of intellectual
capital, bringing together the finest thought leaders, consultants, and
authors in the world with the leaders of social sector voluntary
organizations. By providing intellectual resources to leaders in the
business, government, and social sectors, and by fostering partnerships
across these sectors, the
Leader to Leader Institute works to strengthen social sector leaders of
the United States and of nations around the globe.

The Leader to Leader Institute has its roots in the social sector and
its predecessor, the Peter F. Drucker Foundation for Nonprofit
Management, which in January 2003 transferred its ongoing activities to
the new identity.
