Environmental Management Intern

Twelve Month Contract
c. 17,000 British pounds per annum

This is an opportunity to assist in managing the environment as it affects historic artifacts, both in English Heritage's own properties and other historic buildings, taking into account the interlocking requirements of historic artifacts, visitors, staff and the buildings themselves.

You will assist the Senior Conservation Scientist in planning and implementing environmental monitoring programmes (principally air temperature, relative humidity and light), downloading and analysing data, maintaining monitoring equipment and contributing to environmental management strategies for English Heritage properties.

You will have graduated in the past two years in either conservation or one of the physical sciences. You should be numerate and methodical and possess the skills to translate technical information into non-specialist language.

The post will be based in London, but will involve travel throughout England, sometimes staying overnight.

For an application form, please send a self addressed A4 sized envelope (no stamp) to Carole Arjoon, Human Resources Dept., Room 409, English Heritage, 23 Savile Row, London W1S 2ET, United Kingdom. Please quote reference number R/53/01. Closing date: 17 September 2001. Interview date: 15 October 2001.

English Heritage protects and provides advice on England's unique legacy of historic buildings, landscapes and archaeological sites. We also manage over 400 sites and welcome in excess of 11 million visitors to these each year.

English Heritage values diversity and aims to employ people who reflect this.
