POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT:

Education and External Relations Manager

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society, founded in 1875 and operating an
AAM-accredited museum and archives facility in Youngstown, Ohio, is seeking
an experienced, creative and self-motivated individual for the full-time
position of Education and External Relations Manager.  The successful
candidate will be responsible for all of the Society’s educational programs
and public awareness activities, and be part of a management team that works
with the Board of Trustees in planning, policy implementation and addressing
operational issues.

Primary responsibilities include supervision of the education staff of one
full-time professional and seventeen part-time docents, exhibit and program
development, special events planning, Society publications, grant writing
for programs, and coordination of marketing and public relations efforts.
This position requires professional-level experience in the public dimension
of museums and historical agencies, and excellent verbal and written
communications skills.  An advanced degree in History, Museum Studies,
Education or related disciplines is preferred.  Previous human resources
management experience is also helpful.  Compensation includes salary and
benefits.
