Southwest Museum Services of Houston is looking for an exhibit designer for
upcoming projects. For this position, an exhibit designer should have a
minimum of five years of experience in advanced conceptual and technical
design, and supervision of fabrication, and installation of physical
structures including casework as for museums, amusement parks, theater
scenery, or architectural interiors. The ideal candidate will have
experience as a Project Manger, supervising crews of at least ten staffers
and shop personnel in on-site installation as the final phase of the
design-build-install project process.

Specific technical qualifications:
Advanced facility with Microsoft Excel, a word processing program, and a
drawing and illustration program like Canvas, Illustrator, or Corel are
required. A four year degree is required, and a degree in Engineering,
Architecture, Industrial Design, or other design-build discipline is
preferred. Some facility with Auto Cad is also a plus. The candidate should
be able to create and read construction drawings and have familiarity with
electrical and lighting systmes.
