MEDIA LAB AND PROGRAM MANAGER

The mission of The Tech Museum of Innovation is to serve as an educational
resource that engages people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and
experiencing technologies affecting their lives, and to inspire young
people to become innovators in developing technologies of the future.

The Media Lab and Program Manager is a full-time, exempt position reporting
to the Vice-President of Education & Public Programs and is responsible for
the operation and implementation of activities for class visits, staff
development, and/or general public groups that visit the Idea Labs at The
Tech. The Manager will also be responsible for hardware and software
(Macintosh) installation and troubleshooting.  The Manager works with other
staff to establish educational policies and to ensure integration and
correlation between the various activities at The Tech. The Manager helps
to guide the educational  vision and create new programs in keeping with
the innovative spirit of The Tech as a novel learning facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations--Ensures that the Idea Labs are operating at a consistent level
of high quality. Oversees the daily operation of activities for class
visits and special events.
Classroom Instruction--Teaches school group classes in the Idea Labs using
multimedia and other innovative teaching tools.
Curriculum Development--Develops and designs new labs for school groups in
response to identified student and teacher needs. Develops and maintains
integration and correlation between Idea labs activities with other areas
of The Tech.  Collaborates to develop new ways to use existing resources to
keep the student and general public experience fresh and innovative.
Identifies new materials and methods that can be incorporated into new
programs for teachers, students and the general public.
Evaluation--Participates in the design for program evaluation and the
implementation of program development in response to evaluation feedback.
Outreach--Supports outreach efforts through maintenance and coordination of
hardware and software supplies needed for outreach programs.  Serves as a
representative to groups throughout the community on The Tech's educational
programs.
Publications--Contributes to The Tech Museum publications and works with
the Marketing Department to produce materials for outside publications,
education brochures, and teacher materials related to The Tech experience.
On-line Services--Assists in maintaining information on education section
of The Tech's web site.
Miscelleneous--Serves as support instructor for Science Labs. Share weekend
responsibilities with department staff. Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
B.A. or B.S. degree; a degree in Instructional Technology desired.
Experience in working with students 4th through 12th grades and teachers.
Excellent computer skills; working knowledge of multimedia, Macintosh
hardware and software and LANs.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced and
stimulating environment.
Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
Innovative, collaborative and resourceful.
Willingness to work occasionally on weekends and evenings.
Foreign language skills, especially Spanish, not required but desired.
