     While visiting the National Gallery this last year, I noticed on a
     couple of occasions that artists had set up their canvases in the
     galleries and were painting with oils. Can't tell you much more than
     that.  Try contacting someone there.

We only allow pencils/dry media in the galleries.  We are part of a
University, but so far there have been no complaints.
