Check out the book "Gender Perspectives: Essays on Women in Museums"
Jane Glaser and Artemis Zenetou editors, published by Smithsonian
Institution Press, 1994.  I also seem to recall an article in the AAM's
Museum News (I think!) on women directors...can't recall the month/year
though...
