In medium size museums $300,000-$1,000,000 The director's formal vacation
time is an item open for discussion with the board. Long weekends and the
like, a couple of extra days at the holidays were a given. Of course the
average work week for Executive Directors was five long days and at least
one average day in addition. In the half-dozen institutions, I am familar
with, it was most often three weeks vacation at first.
 This is usually more generous than the time given the rest of staff for
several reasons.  One is the typical short tenure of administrators these
days.  The average tneure used to be 7 years, I would guess it is down to
five or less in the 90's.
