Sorry if my note from before got through, it was meant for the curator I
work with.  Ian, please don't take offense, I don't know anything about
conservation.

The best thing to do is wrap it in tissue then in plastic and place it in a
freezer at -20C for 2 weeks. This would hopefully kill any insects or their
eggs. If you can't freeze then wrap in in tissue and plastic for 2 weeks
and check every few days for signs of insects (dropping or casings). Other
than that a periodic bug check while on display should keep you safe.
