Informal Learning Experiences, Inc. announces three sites for the one-day 
workshop, "Designing Experience-Based Learning Projects":

April 14, the Children's Museum, Boston, MA.
May 20, the Children's Museum of Manhattan, New York, NY.
June 3 or 4 (date & site to be confirmed), Baltimore, MD.
June (dates to be announced), Los Angeles and San Francisco, CA

workshop follows:

This full-day, “hands-on” workshop addresses the planning, design, and 
evaluation of experience-based learning projects.  It will be conducted 
seminar-style, with open discussion, small group sessions, and hands-on 
exercises on the museum floor.  The presenters are:   Robert L. Russell, 
Ph.D., Informal Learning Experiences, Inc., who is trained as a developmental 
psychologist and is a former science and children's museum director; and Ted 
Ansbacher, Ph.D., who is trained as a physicist and is the former Director of 
Exhibits, the New York Hall of Science.   Registration is $135 for the first 
person'; $125 for the second from the same organization. 

The workshop  provides participants with:

•  	an introduction to classical and current experienced-based learning 
theories, 
• 	practical guidance and hands-on exercises in planning an interactive 
exhibition or 	informal education program,
•  	a framework for analyzing interactive exhibit and program experiences
•  	an introduction to project evaluation, and
•  	a manual and resources for further learning.

The workshop emphasizes the importance of developing projects which address 
well-defined needs and involve the design of learning experiences and 
evaluation processes linked directly with project goals and measurable 
objectives.  These issues are directly relevant to all organizations 
developing exhibits and programs for learners outside classroom settings, 
including zoos, history museums, science centers, nature centers, natural 
history museums, children’s museums, and art museums, community centers, or 
libraries with interactive experiences or programs.
