Personally, I couldn't do my job without volunteers.  I have some wonderful
people who help with the tedious paperwork and physical labor, do condition
reports, design and implement new ways to store objects, assist me with
short-term and long-range planning--pretty much everything a paid curatorial
assistant would do.  They are intelligent, talented, experienced, and
dedicated to the job and the Museum.  They make an enormous difference.
It's hard to imagine that there are museum professionals who would
discourage this kind of help!
