I would second Tracie's argument that as professionals we have an obligation
to preserve a complete historical record, not just what is socially
acceptable.

I also think there is a middle ground between destroy and keep that needs to
be explored.  On a hunch I checked out the Kinsey Institute for Research in
Sex, Gender, and Reproduction.  They do maintain a special collection that
includes photographs and artifacts related to human sexuality.  Whether the
slides in question would be of value to their researchers is something only
they can answer. I think it would be at least worth a call to get their
perspective on how to handle collections of this sort.
