I posted a similar inquiry several weeks ago; vis-à-vis gaseous clean agent suppression systems, water mist, etc., and got no responses. It seems that the ideal setup would be a gaseous clean agent system, (Novec 1230, also known as Sapphire, seems to be more benign than other options except for Inergen, which requires a prohibitively large amount of space for the tanks) backed up by a water mist system. The gaseous system would quickly detect and suppress most fires, but if it failed the water mist system would kick in. Presently at my museum, however, I am having difficulty in building consensus on this. Please contact me off-list if you would like to discuss this further.
