The mission of the Denver Museum of Natural History is to promote the
study, understanding, and enjoyment of the universe, nature, science, and
human cultures.

Project description:  Under the direction of the Registrar, the
Registration Assistant will conduct an inventory of long-term exhibits and
create centralized documentation in both hard copy and electronic format.
In doing so, the Registration Assistant will work with a variety of Museum
staff; become familiar with collection documentation in each curatorial
department, and learn the ARGUS OpenEdition collection management system.
In addition to learning all aspects of registration in a natural history
museum, the Registration Assistant will have the opportunity to become
familiar with the structure of a complex museum staff and conduct
informational interviews according to his or her personal interests.  Other
projects will be assigned as time permits.

Qualifications:
· Applicant should be currently enrolled in a degree program in Museum
Studies or in a natural science or anthropology degree program with a
Museum Studies emphasis.
· Applicant should have strong communication skills and attention to detail
along with the ability to work independently.
· Applicant should be computer proficient with relational database
experience preferred.

Schedule:  180 hours with $1,500 stipend.  Start date, end date, and weekly
schedule can be negotiated though completion is expected by the end of 2000.
