PAINTING FIELD CAMP
Near Sunlight Basin in Northwestern Wyoming
August 7-14, 1994
 
This field class focusses exclusively on drawing and painting on-location at
the unique landscape of northwest Wyoming inside the Shoshone National
Forest near the Absorka Mountains. This terrain encompasses an expansive
area offering a variety of geological formations, spatial scale and
temporal elements.  The program's objective is to form a group of committed
artists who investigate issues in drawing and painting from the
"landscape". The program of study includes open discussions, group and
individual critiques and slide presentations.
 
Faculty: Mark Lewis, visiting artist; Norman Nilsen, Director, Floyd Museum
School
 
Schedule: Eight days mornings and afternoons students work on-site.
Discussions, critiques and presentations held in late afternoon or evening.
 
Admission: Open to individuals age 18+ presently involved in formal
education situation or working independently. Early application is
encouraged due to limited space. Use form below.
 
Facilities and Location: Rustic cabin accommodations with group meals in
dining hall at Northwest College Field Station at Painter Road off Chief
Joseph Scenic Highway (approximately 30 miles north of Cody, Wyoming).
 
Equipment: A list of recommended supplies and equipment is provided upon
enrollment.
 
Fees and Costs: Tuition $225. Bunk and Board $225. Payment: $225 deposit is
due upon acceptance.
 
Travel Arrangements: Participants provide their own transportation to Cody,
Wyoming, where transportation to the site will be provided on Sunday,
August 7.
