As a Museum Studies student in England about ten years ago, I did a
three week attachment at the British Museum. I went around talking to
people who worked in all different areas of that vast place, including
the brave souls who worked on the information desk in the entry hall.

I asked them about some of the funniest questions they had been asked
and there were some real beauties!! My favourite (and the only one I
can still remember clearly) was the young guy who was asked by an American
tourist couple if he could please tell them the way to the Great Pyramids.
He replied (without batting an eyelid): "Of course, sir. Just go up the stairs,
turn
left, go through Mesopotamia, and you will find the pyramids directly in front
of you."

Well I thought it was funny!

Of course, he might have made it up...
