I thought this database from the MAGAZINE list might be useful
to those trying to write for the public without benefit
of a degree in journalism.

Three new files -- MAGWRIT3 (Advanced Magazine Writing), MAGEDIT2 (Magazine
Editing and Production), MAGAHIST2 (Magazines in American Life) --  will
be added in the next day or two to the list of magazine-related syllabi
available in the MAGAZINE database, which will then contain the following

1. To receive a copy of a syllabus in the database: Send a one-line (no
subject) e-mail message reading...   SEND filename SYLLABUS  ...to either...
[log in to unmask] (internet) or COMSERVE@RPITSVM (bitnet)
   Note: The address is COMSERVE, not MAGAZINE.
 
2. To submit a syllabus of your own:
 
     a. Give the syllabus a filename using the standard format, i.e.
        MAGxxxxn.SYLLABUS (For example, the next one concerned with
        writing would be MAGWRIT4.SYLLABUS; one on editing might be
        MAGEDIT3.SYLLABUS.)
 
     b. Using e-mail, send your syllabus as an e-mail message to either
        of the following addresses: [log in to unmask] (internet)
        or SUPPORT@RPITSVM (bitnet)
            Note: The address is SUPPORT, not MAGAZINE.
 
3. To find out what syllabi are available: Send a one-line (no subject)
e-mail message reading...   FILESEARCH /MAG$/ AND /SYLLABUS/  ...to either..
[log in to unmask] (internet) or COMSERVE@RPITSVM (bitnet)
   Note: The address is COMSERVE, not MAGAZINE. Also be sure to include
the slashes (/) in your message.

consider sending in all their syllabi for magazine-related subjects for
