We had a vast array of materials in our collection that were hazardous.
Many were from Thomas Edison's Menlo Park and Fort Meyers laboratories.
Whenever possible we try to retain original glass or metal containers
but we do not keep the hazardous materials. We contract licensed
hazardous materials companies to dispose of them. I'd be happy to speak
with you directly regarding my specific experience with these types of
materials and our policy regarding their disposal.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Explosives

Greetings from Alaska!

Several museums up here have old explosives of various kinds in their
collections. Where might we find expertise in assessing the risk of
these items and possibly de-fusing them without losing the historic
artifact? Anyone have a story to tell about their own artifacts?

Thanks very much!
