For our internationally renowned auction house client's New York office, we
are seeking a Decorative Arts Appraiser to work in the Department of Trusts,
Estates & Appraisals.  The successful candidate will work with in-house
account managers to provide accurate insurance, gift tax and estate planning
appraisals for clients, often in conjunction with the auction house's
regional offices nationwide.  Duties include attending appraisals arranged
through the Department to catalogue and value decorative arts not addressed
by an attending specialist; providing values, descriptions and relevant
technical information regarding objects to Account Managers; proofread and
sign off on all related appraisals for clients; on-site reviews of potential
consignments; other duties as necessary.  The ideal applicant will have a BA
in art history with related MA strongly preferred and a minimum of eight
years experience in the field of decorative arts. Excellent organizational,
communications and interpersonal skills are essential.  Competitive salary
