Hello Carri,

To some extent, the time required for data entry will depend on 1) your
staff/volunteer's typing skill and 2) the type of data being entered.  I have
found that "people" records take approximately 2-5 minutes each depending on
how many links you have to make (individual to group to member, etc.).  For
your collection, it will depend on how complete your records are.  If you have
been using paper accession forms that contain all of the necessary data, the
work should go pretty quickly. However, if the staff member or volunteer is
going to need to do research the process could take much longer.

If you currently have all of your records stored in a software system (such as
MCMS) it is possible to have a PastPerfect staff member convert the data.  Our
museum has currently chosen to take this route and it has significantly
decreased the amount of data entry and re-entry that we have had to do.
