2nd Announcement
SPNHC 2004: Strategies for Emergency Response & Salvage
19th annual meeting of the Society for the Preservation of Natural
History Collections

This spring the American Museum of Natural History will host the 19th
annual meeting of the Society for the Preservation of Natural History
Collections May 11-16, 2004. The theme of the meeting is Museum SOS:
Strategies for Emergency Response & Salvage and as part of this year's
activity we will be devoting one day of the conference's technical
sessions to talks focusing on issues relating to emergency preparedness
and response. The International Society for Biological and
Environmental Repositories (ISBER) will join SPNHC and organize a
specialty session covering issues related to biomaterials and setting
up tissue repositories.

A one-day workshop that deals with practical issues encountered in
responding to the first 24 hours after a disaster, the most critical
time period, will follow the meeting. In addition the we will hold a
banquet aboard the World Yacht's MV Empress, so come along and enjoy
the views of the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty.
