Hello Maria
I have just started working in the publishing division at a national museum in
Canada. I've been working in the museum world for over 6 years -- first as a
librarian -- then exhibition project manager and now in electronic publishing.
As a librarian I also found it a frustration working with museum
publications(mp). Briefly mp in Canada has been eratic and low key but mostly
related to collections and exhibitions. Now there is a trend for disseminating
museum information electronically and to a wider audience. I think the
Canadian experience is similar to U.S. I recommend you contact a wonderful
library at the Canadian Conservation Institute located in Ottawa. They could
help you there because they have well-kept secret-- collection of museology and
museum pubs. (613)998-3721 Good Luck and I would love to have a copy of your
thesis when completed. Suzanne Bubic
